Welcome
Mafnood
to the cyber world
--
I want to wish good luck to anyone going to their
final year of school, college, university or starting a
new job. May you all reach that goal with patience and
hard work. And get rewarded at the end with endless
success.
Topic of Discussion
‘Many of the city’s black-shrouded UAE girls say they
cannot check out the latest fashions in Zara or sip a
smoothie in a café without being bombarded with the phone
numbers of hopeful admirers.’’
‘Among national girls, it is virtually impossible for a
young woman to admit to clandestine meetings with boys,
although from the tales young men tell, it is clear that
these take place.’’
I'm sure most of you have read the article published on
BBC Online talking about how the UAE youth use and abuse
Bluetooth to flirt with one another. Here is a chance for
us to realize how the outside world may see the UAE youth:
desperate, barbaric hypocrites.
We claim to be following the rules given in the Quran and
take great pride in our principles, yet we do the exact
opposite? The young local man that was interviewed by the
BBC reporter did not say anything wrong, he just said the
plain truth. If one tries to hide his flaws by lying about
them, he'd be called a hypocrite. This man was certainly
brave enough to point out such a dominant flaw in our
society in order for us to face it rather than trying to
conceal it from the rest of the world. The BBC
report was indeed another mockery upon us. There are no
excuses, they did not generalize and definitely didn’t
make false comments on how Bluetooth is abused by UAE
nationals. We must know that some foreigners may envy us
for the wealth, stability, and cleanness of our country,
why not complete the perfect picture and actually respect
our own culture and religion.
